Plastiki Kontiki

Plastiki is a 20 meter cadameren boat. The special thing about it is that it’s made out of recyceled plastic bottles and other PET material. Even though it’s made out of plastic bottles Plastiki is still very high tec with; solar panals, wind and trailing propeller turbines and bicycle generators. On March 20, 2010 Plastiki set sail planning to sail from San Fransisco to Sydney. They will stop at several places which are special to the enviorment or that have been destroyed due to global warming. The crew is skippered by female british sailor Jo Royce. The crew from San Francisco to Sydney consists of Co-skipper David Thompson, expedition diver Olav Heyerdahl, filmmakers Max Jourdan and Vern Moen, and expedition leader David de Rothschild. Rothschild, an ecologist will sail across the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, a big sea of garbage sitting just below the surface of the Pacific Ocean between California and Hawaii, in an attempt to make people realize the amout of waste disposed of in our oceans.

Nice work on this, Amalia. I was hoping you'd include the idea was to draw attention to the amount of trash in the oceans, and you got it in the last sentence.

What a project, eh?
