EARTHQUAKE



September 2nd, 2009 am earthquake hit an earthquake hit the coast of Java, Indonesia. On the Ricther Scale the earthquake ranked at around 7.4 magnitude. It killed 44 people and more are still to be found. The quake struck at around 3 pm in the afternoon. The epicenter was located around 190 km offshore south east of Jakarta. The center was about 50 km deep and after the earthquake an urgent tsunami watch started taking place.



Indonesia has had numerous occasions on which massive earthquakes have struck. Since Indonesia is located in the ring of fire it is a constant magnet to earthquakes and such.



This earthquake had affected many people and thier lives. It brought down several houses and threatened to bring down numerous buildings. It killed 44 people and more are still to be found. On top of the 44 dead over 400 were injured.

Amalia, you write very well. Your text is smooth and to the point. You touch base slightly with out social studies standards, and maybe there is a difference between my expectations and what you think is enough sentence space to give our learnings. I was hoping most of the post would be about what it is we were supposed to learn in social studies. We'll keep trying.
